she gave up on him too soon too early too eagerly

it was something that caught his eye, he saw a change

a challenge coming, colors of a mistake showing off

her lies

something that could go a long long way

in the shadows of her thoughts in the wings of her mind

and all he could do, was close the window to his soul

and close the window to his mind

so,...he thought about it long and hard

bought a ticket, boarded a flight, flew away

like a bird caught in a cage, leaving what could have been

leaving his breath in a sigh
