you drifted into town
makin' noices being loud
polluting our vieuw
bleeding over our streets
looking into windows breaking
into our privacy
is something we don't need
what we need is you making
tracks into eternity
so take your garbage to the
next train that leaves, we don't
want you to know
how we lay, live and die
'cause your kind is rough
we don't want you about
'cause you're a stranger your
eyes might see too much we
have ways you don't think of
they are ours, ones we'll keep
you wouldn't understand, you
wouldn't like what you see
so get out of this town we
don't want you about 'cause
you're a stranger

Freshness of yesterday
the rain's hitin' me with respect
it's a summer rain, it isn't wet coolin'
me down, way out of town
in a field where the only noise's is
buzzin' bees, takin'it home as I do
when I'm with her alone
in these woods, the field knows it's
bein' used, it doesn't mind it comes
to bloom
takin' me an' Sally far away into the
colours of the day, an' we don't mind
we've got time
to lay down, be surprised, by the freshness
of it all, our green wall will never come down
will never decay
we don't intend to stay, takin' it home
as to remind summerdays in their prime
where nothin' was lost
with so much to give, little did we take
it didn't break the freshness of our
yesterday

The rules
there's nothin' I can do, nothin' I can say,
there's nothin' here for you to want me again,
an' you leavin' wasn't on my mind,
when your love came to town, it was found,
then just died...leavin me no reason,
just a "why',
but there it is your love didn't stay it was just
a game, you love to play without warnin' you
went and took it all away
leavin' me your empty name, you layed down
the rules, you played the game, and all it did was ...
take

Old Gains
winning was my style
it never ever stopped
I wanted to go on
'till I dropped
a mile out of town
I was goin' 'round an' 'round
it came to me as a flash
I had to get out
I had my share of winning
I was loosing ground
and I didn't like the feeling
somebody threw a towel
I knew I was down
no time to get up
no time to stop the count
no time to apoligise
no time for another round
no time to reach for fame
I met myself comin' up the way
it was just not for me to stay
I just drifted away
with all the cheers fading
with a thin crowd leadin' the way
it wasn't in me to live on old gains
