The remains of the day
tired of the day to sleep I me lay
I take with me the remains of the day
some nice some sad dreams aren't that
bad
things linger on, bring on a restless night
broken moonlight invades my dreams givin'
me an unease
yet most of the time I'm allright, a first ray
of sunlight, up an' about, cryin' out loud ready
for a new day
it will make me sing, the remains of that day
I'll take with me when to sleep I me lay

Another day
so, in the middle of the day when
the sun is out, I smell the new born
hay, an' I know life's been good to me
at where I'm standing for yet another
day
its struggle has left me for a while not
knowing where or when it will return
I cherish this brief moment in time as
I know it won't stay 'cause its forever
changing into something new ev'ry day
somethin' I've got to engage again when
time blows its lonely horn, and when I hear
that lonely horn I will know time's come to me
with another test on a new day where I'm ready
to engage into the struggle, life is for yet another
day

We don't touch
we look, an' see what we haven't got
we laugh, but there's no smile in our
laugh 'cause...we don't touch
our days are empty, nights shortly lived
and a lot, we cannot fill them with what
we haven't got...we don't touch
and ev'ry morning is not a new day 'cause
our yesterdays are gone and won't come
again
and when we talk our words are caught
in their hollow silence 'cause... we don't
touch...we're not in love

Tobacco road
Midsummer, Sunday afternoon
sun's high up in the sky at the
sweat of the day
fields o' green dominate the vieuw
there's a humm a song rises up someone
starts to sing about the only freedom he
has
the freedom within, it's a religious song
a powerfull song, a bearer of strenght
others pick up on it start fallin' in
it sings about all the lost yesterdays
an' their tomorrows, as it finds its way
down Tobacco road
where the blues never end

carried burdens
on a lazy Sunday afternoon
as I was walking along the river
I noticed the sun low in the sky
getting near the end of the day
so peacefull, gracefulle dying
at that moment I became restful
burdens, carried on my shoulders
seemed to leave me for a while
I sensed suddenly, nature took a rest
it took its time, leisurely came the night
and I melted down with the Universe
exploring the stars, lighting up the sky
a calm had fallen upon me at midnight
I was alone, at peace down by the riverside
I realised, this was really the way to live
took a deep breath feeling so right
the water, calmly broke on to the banks
I heard the cricket play its song
a rowboat was lying there on its side
rolled it over and set out on the river
I never felt so at ease rowing the boat
my worries had dropped into the rriver
slowly I was getting there to my little heaven
and when I reached it I recognised it
it was early in the morning at dawn
I returned to the bank of the river
left the boat in the place where it belonged
and...
walked the path back through the village
finally I had found the pace of life
never was I to carry burdens again
they had vanished at midnight on
the river
