Scent of a woman

just two people passin' by in a lonely room
full of happy people, she was leavin' with
a smile

a scent of a woman lookin' for somethin'
she just couldn't find and I saw her go off
into her dark cloak of the night

wondering, would I have stopped, would
I have paid attention to that faint scent of
a woman

so close, so near waitin' for me to take her
away into the still of this night, would she
then not have passed me by

I failed, I wasn't prepared we were just
passers by

Side of the road

I'm standin' here at the side of the road
with people passin' by leavin' their cares
and worries here... at the side of the road

where I'm standin' , with a weary, worried
and troubled mind, with its emptiness
its loneliness  here... at the side of the road

and they pass me by, with their happy faces
smilin' goin' to their happy places and
they  leave me their blues here...
at the side of the road

where I'm  standin' with my weary, worried
and troubled mind and I know it will be some
time before I will travel yet...
