Sleep

when the night is lonely
and begs the morning to come in
is it only the sleep of the justified
that separates them

Mistakes

when the night is lonely embracing its stars
when its dawn is breaking embracing the morning
with its scars

will we relive our mistakes as again the night
embraces its lonely stars
and when we do wil we meet the dawn and its morning
without its scars

The core

sometimes...days are lonely and
without reason sometimes days
are filled with a sadness you
never knew

but time will come and heal from
within its core as it should when
you're hurting way down deep
from within your core as it
weeps

Not so sacred, not mine

sittin' here in my easy chair its laziness
bein' a gift of the maker, with a glass of
wine in my hand

I'm starin' across the table where I picture
her there, sippin' her lost an' lonely wine
not so sacred, not mine, smilin'

I knew there and then this was not to be
forever, yet these are the nights I remember

and she left me as a good wine a reminder
of all those lost yesterdays where the wine
in the end was our only way we did
communicate

and yes, we drank from it our glass filled
with somethin' that never was now the bottle
lies bare

has run dry and it's clear we lost more than
we ever got out of somethin' not so sacred
as our wine was

Scent of a woman

just two people passin' by in a lonely room
full of happy people, she was leavin' with
a smile

a scent of a woman lookin' for somethin'
she just couldn't find and I saw her go off
into her dark cloak of the night

wondering, would I have stopped, would
I have paid attention to that faint scent of
a woman

so close, so near waitin' for me to take her
away into the still of this night, would she
then not have passed me by

I failed, I wasn't prepared we were just
passers by
