Walkin' the dog

walkin' the dog
with the two of us we
still differ of opinion
we've looked at ev'ry angle
he's sweet, nice, kids love 'em

gettin' old
havin' trouble and the dog
it knows, we reached home
with not a blister between us

we telephoned, tomorrow will
be fine, and the dog it knows,
'why it asks I can still walk home',
he doesn't want to know he doen't
want to believe tomorrow's not
gonna be

Dark glasses

when I slide
my dark glasses on
in my bright lit room
everything
seems to change
into
a warm old
friendly brown

there are many
shades of light
mine
to be shade of twilight
when I leave
my bright lit surroundings

I return to
that old friendly
brown world,
and running
like a mad dog
I slide them on
those dark brown
shades

they will take me
into that new world
where music
women an' wine
are
the benefitting trade

stay there a while
if you like
enjoy it to the most
if you know how
make
yourself at home

stay awake
in the midst of night
hear
the sound of laughter
caress the walls
of
your surroundings

your the talk
of the town
many faces
wear a frown
of what you might
be doing
in the little hours
of the tranquil night

you're invited to take
a deeper insight
they all  wear
the same glasses
they're all hear
for a good time

they don't expect you
to go
before daylight
so sing a little, talk a little
kiss a little

and do take
your time
in the zone
of twilight
and when you go home
take of the shades

it'll take you back
to the room you
came from
it'll take you back
to
your reality again

Less pain-painless

walkin' down the streets of my youth
lookin' here' an' there for somethin'
old not new

its laughter an' its pain come to my mind
yesterday's not always a good thing to
look for and find

'cause your pain will always become
more than you'd ever left behind

so now I'm wandering through my
past an' its pieces an' still I miss
that light I then had

it disappeared an' left me over night
never to reclaim its right to shine again
never that very bright

a thing of the past a lot of pain of what
I never had, but now shiftin' through the
leafs of my time

now I find my pain has become more or
less, painless, now I can shine again that
very bright maybe somewhere in time
