Whispering

and sometimes I hear her
when she comes to me in my sleep
and into the restlesness of my thoughts
whispering to me her words as melodies of love
and I wonder will she come and visit me again
as the night closes in where she's my hunger and pain
knowing she will whisper but never come again

Change of heart

deep within the wings of time
my thoughts lie bare, waitin' to
be collected, one by one to keep
them save from destruction, by
the hunters there, tryin' to change
them for me

and I know they will be comin', takin'
away the only freedom I have, my freedom
of thought, so I have to run leavin' them
behind, waitin' for me to collect them again
when time has had, a change of heart and
my thoughts again, can speak their mind

Maybe now I can care or even love

coming from the past reaching
into my dreams, you've come to
me into the shadow of my thoughts

maybe now I can care or even
love

as long as you stay don't leave
me again, as you did when we
were kids took of an' you were
gone

you came into my thoughts
when I least expected it, in
my dreams you were caught

maybe now I can care or even
love

I do try to make you stay I want to
know where I can find you again
but my dreams are fading

not much time left now, so tell me
where are you 'cause I really care
I want you about

once you were in my world, something
I can't shake I shuffle my deck of cards
up comes the queen of hearts

you belong in my heart maybe now
I can care or even love, many do say
a dream's no fake

come back to me tonight and tell me
exactly where you hide 'cause I can
feel something's not right

once I know I'll come and take you
away from whatever it is that keeps
you caged

into the shade where we met and
laughed never realising what we
had after so much we shared

I think somehow now I can care
or even love

I knew you so well

living in the wildernis
of your mind, I knew so well
where I have dwelt , so many times
where you could not hide
what kept you alive
I knew you by heart
sometimes a little tough
but no more than that

and I knew you so well
your thoughts ringing a bell
if not with me
maybe with somebody else

they'll get to know you as I did
I don't know if I can take it
but there it is, I must leave
guess I have come to know you too well
started ringing too many bells
the sound a deafening one
I could not hear you think at all
you have closed your mind for me
it made a retreat I could not foresee

never did I hear you think again
when it came to that
I knew I had to go away
living in the wilderness
of your mind
I knew the time had come
I would stop climbing
those mountains inside

and I knew you so well
your thoughts would ring a bell
if not with me
maybe with somebody else

looking for you one more time
I realised I had lost you
your thoughts were somewhere else
'cause I know you too well
I could not get in
the bolt was thrown
a key turned
memories were burned
in the fire of your mind
disappearing into the light

and I knew you so well
your thoughts would ring a bell
if not with me
maybe with somebody else

Taking the rest

close the book with  tenderness
with your thoughts dwelling on what
was read

take from it the sadness, laughter,  madness
brightness, take the flavour, the feelings take
all the best

'cause I'm taking te rest
